The law firm Buchta Pokorný & Partners was founded in 2020 with the aim to capitalize on experience from our previous several year-long collaboration, and to strengthen our friendship that has its origins in the time of our studies.
We specialize in insolvency, restructuring and judgment enforcement, but also in corporate, energy, mining and environmental law. Why such a curious combination? These are the areas of law that we have significantly dedicated ourselves to since the time of our studies at the Faculty of Law and in which we have purposefully gained experience. At the same time, it is our goal not to separate the individual legal fields from one another, but to move across them in order to achieve our desired goal in the best way possible.
Provision of services in other legal areas, especially in civil, commercial, criminal and administrative law goes without saying. We honor the values and traditions which the attorney profession is based upon and which are – according to us – essential for high quality of provided legal services. We approach our work in a way that will earn absolute trust of our clients: since only then are we capable of finding the best solutions together. This approach of our firm includes expertise, willingness and ability to inform the client of unpleasant facts and respecting both the client’s time and our own.
We are young, energetic, we love our profession and we know that we can count on each other. We are not afraid of technology, electronic communication is a standard for us and we always try to think about problems in a more complex way than it is common in our field. We are convinced that we are not only capable of solving a problem that our client has presented to us, but also that we are able to help develop the business of our clients in such a way that our collaboration will be long-term and meaningful.
Adam Buchta specialized in insolvency and restructuring already during his studies when he also devoted his diploma thesis to these subjects. His following practice as an articled clerk only deepened his love for this field, when after working for one of the leading Czech law firms he joined an office specializing in insolvency law. There, he gained the necessary experience and knowledge so that in 2020 he could successfully pass the insolvency administrator exam and concurrently with his activities as an attorney, he founded the company ROTT & BUCHTA, insolvenční správci v.o.s. (insolvency administrators, an unlimited liability company) where he acts as an insolvency administrator in the role of an announced member. Thanks to his practice of more than ten years in the field of insolvency and restructuring, he has a detailed insight into all the nooks and crannies of insolvency proceedings and he knows them intimately both from the side of creditors and debtors. This experience helps him in navigating even rather non-standard clients through the labyrinth of insolvency proceedings and allows him to execute a restructuring of a client’s business in such a way that will make insolvency unnecessary. Thanks to experience from insolvency proceedings, he is also a natural in commercial law where, apart from common matters, he is able to set up holding structures in such a manner that their logical-economical interconnection and maximum resistance will be ensured.
Jiří Pokorný devoted himself to environmental law and judgement enforcement already during his studies, when he dedicated both his diploma thesis and dissertation to the fields of environmental law, specifically in the sense of its interconnection with energy law. He gained experience in the field as a lawyer at the State Office for Nuclear Safety, where – during his doctoral studies – he participated in preparation of the new Atomic Act. Afterwards, he worked for several years for one of the leading Prague enforcement offices as an articled clerk. Until the beginning of 2021, he also worked as an assistant professor and secretary at the Department of Environmental Law at the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague. He decided to put his gained practice to good use as an attorney, and therefore, in 2019 he passed the bar and became an attorney. In his practice he makes use of his long experience gained in state administration, in the field of environmental law and judgement enforcement. Thanks to his intimate knowledge of enforcement proceedings and at the same time his experience from academia, he is able to provide legal services in the given fields at top level.
